Privacy notice

Michael Clarke, trading as Living Verses, is the data controller for your information, operating from the United Kingdom. For anything in this notice, write to livingverses101@gmail.com.

• — Your email address, to identify your account and to send you essential messages about it.
• — Your clippings, notes and collections. On a free account these stay on your device and are never sent to us. On Plus, a copy is stored so it can sync between your devices.
• — Your public profile — username, display name, bio and logo — but only if you choose to set one.
• — Payment records. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach us; we hold only a customer reference and your subscription status.

There is no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts anywhere in the app or on published pages. Nobody reading something you shared is counted, profiled or followed around. Your notes are never read by us, never used to train anything, and never sold.

The one exception is the videos on the How to page. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play — the page itself contacts nobody. If you do play one, YouTube will see that and may set cookies, as it would on any site. That is why it waits to be asked rather than starting on its own.

• — To provide the service — storing and syncing what you write, and publishing what you choose to publish. This is performance of our contract with you.
• — To take payment and keep records of it. Contract, and our legal obligation to keep financial records.
• — To email you about your account— including warning you before a lapsed subscription’s cloud copy is removed. Legitimate interest in not deleting your work without telling you first.

There is no marketing email. You will not be added to a mailing list.

Only the services needed to run the app. Each is a processor acting on our instructions:

• — Supabase — accounts, database and image storage
• — Vercel — hosting and delivery
• — Stripe — payments and subscriptions
• — Resend — sending account emails
• — Meta — advertising measurement, on the front page only, and only if you allow it

Some of these process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens it is covered by the safeguards those providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.

• — While your account exists — your archive is kept so you can use it.
• — 60 days after a subscription ends — the cloud copy is kept so you can bring it back onto a device, then it is deleted. Copies on your own devices are never touched.
• — Published pages are kept indefinitely, because they are links other people may rely on. Unpublish one at any time and it stops being readable.
• — Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires, currently six years.

Under UK GDPR you may ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to how it is used, or ask for it in a portable form. Email the address above from your account address and it will be dealt with within a month.

You can also export your work yourself at any time using Export PDF, on any plan, without asking anyone.

If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

The app sets a cookie to keep you signed in. That one is necessary for the service to work at all, so it is not something you are asked about.

The front page only asks whether you will allow an advertising cookie from Meta, so we can tell whether an advert reached anyone. Nothing is loaded unless you say yes, and saying no simply means nothing loads. It is never present once you are signed in, and never on a published page — the pages you share with other people carry no advertising code of any kind.
